A collection of my best works using the traditional mediums, with a heavy focus on watercolor and graphite.

Wood Door Series
A 3-part study on wood texture and creating color contrast with graphite.
Awarded the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards National Gold Medal.

Corner Garden
This 15"x25" painting depicts a corner garden that I found in a backdoor alley in urban China. I was captivated by the tranquility that the plants and pots bring to the city jungle, and wanted to portray this through a watercolor study with color pencil details.

Waiting
This graphite portrait of an airport setting highlights the tranquility of sunlight streaming in through the windows, creating reflections that are elongated through the white, shiny porcelain tiles. These intersecting lines created a very unique and geometric composition.

Paradox of Choice
Part 1 of the 4-part "Indecisive" series.
Indecision can be caused by the over analyzing that occurs when one is given too many options. The paradox of choice, where less is more, highlights how the more options there are, the more stress it provides.

Fear of the Unknown
Part 2 of the 4-part "Indecisive" series.
Reaching a decision means you are exercising as much control as you feel possible over an unknown outcome. The fear of the unknown is present from the amount of risk people perceive, and when faced with an unknown outcome, it can oftentimes make them hesitant of their choices.

Forceful Roots
Part 3 of the 4-part "Indecisive" series.
Indecisiveness often stems as a result of the conflicting views that surround people, telling them how to think and act. Just like how tree roots aggressively grow over any obstacle, other’s opinions are often forceful and unforgiving.
Deindividuation
Part 4 of the 4-part "Indecisive" series.
When someone joins a group of those with shared interests and goals, there is a psychological sense of unity and belonging. However, this can lead to one's deindividuation - the loss of one's self-awareness.
Although each ring is unique in its material and color, all of these distinctive qualities are lost in its shadow, representing how unanimity in a group's interest can overshadow each individual's own self.
